Liza came to The Meadows after a lifetime shaped by trauma, complicated family dynamics, and years of trying to care for everyone else before herself. Having participated in therapy and treatment programs before, she arrived unsure of what to expect but quickly realized she had found something different.
She describes her first impression as, “holy bleep. They know things about me that I didn’t think anyone else knew.” What stood out most was not only the depth of the trauma-informed work, but the way she felt cared for in every part of the experience, from the therapeutic support to the environment itself.
Through Survivors programming and betrayal trauma work, Liza began reconnecting with her inner child, learning to set boundaries, and prioritizing her own mental health. She also found meaningful connection with others and continues to stay engaged through alumni groups.
Reflecting on her experience, Liza offers reassurance to others considering treatment: “Come as you are, and they will care for you.”
