Maggie’s Story: Choosing Life, Connection, and Healing

Maggie arrived at The Meadows during one of the darkest moments of her life. Nearly 21 years sober and deeply experienced in meditation and spiritual coaching, she found herself facing an emotional crisis she could not manage on her own after a sudden and painful loss.

In a moment of despair, Maggie reached out for help. She shares that, “It was literally the person who picked up that phone who saved my life that day.” From the moment she arrived, she felt safe and deeply cared for, describing an experience of love and support unlike anything she had known before.

Through trauma-focused therapy, EMDR, and a wide range of experiential modalities, Maggie was able to process painful experiences she had never fully addressed. Just as important was the sense of belonging she found in community, learning that healing does not happen in isolation.

When asked what she gained from treatment, Maggie’s answer was simple and profound: “The will to live, the desire to live.”
