For Kasey, recovery did not end when treatment was over. She shares how the Meadows alumni community, Onward, became a foundation of support as she transitioned back into daily life.
She describes the alumni community as a place of belonging, where people understand one another without explanation and acceptance comes naturally. Having connection already established, through letters, meetings, and shared experiences, made a significant difference in helping her maintain structure outside the treatment environment.
Kasey highlights the importance of alumni retreats, which she continues to attend regularly, describing them as an opportunity to pause, refocus, and reconnect with herself and her recovery. These moments of intentional return have helped her sustain balance and wellbeing over time.
Encouraging others to take that next step, Kasey acknowledges the fear that can come with vulnerability, while reminding alumni of what awaits on the other side: “Just take this step and then you will be surrounded by a group of people who love you.”
