CLOTHING: The high Sonoran Desert climate produces cool morning, hot daytime and cool evening temperature variations. Casual, comfortable clothing (fairly conservative in style) is strongly suggested. *Weatherproof jacket *Housecoat or robe *Slacks/Jeans *Sweats *Tennis Shoes *Sandals *Boots *T-shirts *One-Piece bathing suit *Leggings w/long shirts. Appropriate Apparel (full length shorts, one piece bathing suits) may only be worn in recreational areas (fitness center, pool, volleyball and basketball courts). Shorts are not allowed at any other time than the above. Sleeveless shirts and tanktops are not allowed. TOILETRIES: All personal toiletries must be in their original containers. Bring non alcoholic mouthwash. Perfumes/colognes may be brought if they are in a spray bottle (atomizer). Emery boards are preferred but nail files or clippers (no longer than 1 ½ inches) may be brought. Patients may bring their own electric/battery-operated razors. Disposable or safety razors are permitted but will be held by Medical Services’ staff when not being used. MEDICATIONS: Medications must be prescribed by your doctor in their original container with the prescription label attached (no exceptions). Medications not labeled and/or with a potential for abuse or dependency will be destroyed. Our doctor will evaluate all medications so only bring a 24-hour supply of prescription medications. Items such as birth control pills, hormones, vitamins, etc., may be brought for entire length of stay, provided they are brought in their original, sealed containers. The Meadows will supply approved vitamins and supplements. Vitamins are provided at no additional charge. MISCELLANEOUS: Your Primary Counselor will evaluate treatment/recovery related reading materials (no outside reading materials are permitted). Please bring personal stationary, address book, stamps, pens and notebooks. Please bring small amounts of cash ($200 or less). You may bring your palm pilot or other PDA, these will be held by staff when not in use. You may bring sugarless gum (but not sugarless candy). If you currently have any Advance Directives or Living Will, bring a copy for Medical Records. DO NOT BRING *Cameras *Cellular phones *Laptop computers *Electronic games *Radios *CD’s or cassettes UNLESS they are recovery related *Musical instruments *Medication not prescribed by a physician *Candy (even sugar-free candy), food, beverages *Sports equipment *Hobby materials *T-shirts with suggestive messages (sex, drug, alcohol, etc.) *Anything made of Spandex *Aerosol spray cans (except for shaving cream) *Herbal remedies *Chewing tobacco or cigars *Large amounts of cash or credit cards (The Meadows is not responsible for personal items kept in a patient’s possession. The Meadows provides access to a safe.) *Pocketknives or tools *Sewing kits. Important Information ALL LUGGAGE AND PERSONAL ITEMS WILL BE SEARCHED *PATIENTS MAY REQUEST TO BE PRESENT DURING SEARCH *ANY ITEMS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE WILL BE TAKEN AND HELD OR CAN BE SHIPPED HOME. *Smoking is permitted (minors may not smoke) in designated areas only. Bring enough cigarettes for your estimated length of stay *Laundry is done by patients during leisure hours (soap, irons, etc. are furnished). *The Meadows has an open phone policy except during those times requiring scheduled patient participation. *No visitors the first Sunday if here less than seven days. Visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sundays and major holidays. |
