Counseling Staff/Group Facilitator – Dakota

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with main campus treatment team in assuring a seamless transfer into continuing care.
2. Meet with main campus patients and patients from other facilities to offer interaction and assessment.
3. Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions demonstrating knowledge of treatment issues and the principles and techniques of individual and group therapy.
4. Assesses each patient’s level of functioning and develops, with the treatment team, a customized treatment plan to meet the patient’s individual needs.
5. Shows creativity and flexibility in developing and delivering treatment modalities addressing individual patient needs.
6. Conducts topic group sessions, demonstrating good theoretical knowledge of subject matter and effective communication skills in delivering material.
7. Completes documentation maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures of the facility.
8. Deals with the resistance, anger, misunderstanding and skepticism of patients in a constructive and flexible manner.
9. Completes and documents at least four hours of clinical supervision in a calendar month as a behavioral health technician or a behavioral health paraprofessional who works full-time. Completes and documents one hour of clinical supervision for every 40 hours worked as behavioral health technician or a behavioral health paraprofessional per R9-20-205.
10. Completes and documents at least 48 hours of training during the first 12 months of full-time employment or the equivalent amount for part-time employment. Completes and documents at least 24 hours of training every 12 months of full-time employment or the equivalent amount for part-time employment, after the staff member’s first 12 months of employment as a behavioral health technician or a behavioral health paraprofessional per R9-20-206.
11. Collaborates with other staff members in areas to include: program development, scheduling, lecture assignments and other therapeutic tasks.
12. Collaborates as a team member with staff; including counselors, art therapist and other professional staff to share pertinent data relative to patients’ individual issues.
13. Develops contacts in the community to meet individual patient needs in: spirituality, religion, 12-step meetings and other related treatment areas.
14. Develops professional relationships to enhance program development.
15. Collaborates with referents early in treatment as well as in planning for discharge and post discharge activities.
16. Shows flexibility in offering lectures, groups and workshops at the main campus.
17. Utilizes supervisory feedback to improve performance.

Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field is preferred.
2. At least two years of clinical experience working with trauma, psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis.
3. Licensure by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners is required.
4. EMDR-trained preferred.
5. If recovering from chemical dependence or other addictions, must be in recovery for a minimum of two years.
6. Knowledge and experience with 12 step recovery programs.
7. Must be able to speak, read and write English.
8. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
9. Ability to type/work on computer for extended periods of time.
